Join us on Wednesday, March 15th at Noon 12:00 p.m. for the 2023 Edward A. Smith/Bryan Cave LLP Lecture Series by General Electric's Chief Sustainability Officer Roger Martella, as he discusses recent legislation relating to sustainability and climate action.
Mr. Martella leads GE’s comprehensive and cohesive approach to sustainability, using his expertise in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Roger joined GE in 2017 as Director and General Counsel, Environmental Health and Safety. His experience includes serving as General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate, and the Principal Counsel for Complex Litigation for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Natural Resources Section.
In private practice, Roger co-led Sidley Austin LLP's global environmental law. He is on the board of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), the Environmental Law Institute, and several environmental NGOs and energy think tanks. He co-authored and edited four books on the intersections of ESG, climate change law, international environmental law, and human rights, including the 2020 publication Corporate Social Responsibility—Sustainable Business: Environmental, Social and Governance Frameworks for the 21st Century (Wolters Kluwer 2020).
