Introducing SPONGEY.APP: Missouri's Public Expungement Tool

This session provides an update on the progress of the Missouri Expungement Tools, with a focus on SPONGEY.APP, an innovative self-help application developed by the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Set for public launch in January 2025, SPONGEY.APP simplifies the expungement process for self-represented litigants under §610.140 RSMo by providing a comprehensive solution to determine eligibility, generate court-ready documents, and prepare them for the next steps in the process. This session will explore the development process, latest features, ongoing testing, and explore opportunities to ensure that the tool is implemented in a way that complements existing legal services while maximizing its potential to expand access to justice.
